Washburn Brownstone Community Block Party - Washburn Chamber of Commerce (2024)

Join us as we celebrate with our annual Washburn Brownstone Community Block Party the last full weekend in July.

This year will look a little different due to the road construction taking place on Bayfiled St. but party is on!

Wednesday, July 24

3-6pm Washburn Farmer’s Market, corner of Bayfield St. (HWY 13) and Central Ave.

6-8pm Music in the Parks: Bentley & the Deal at Legion Park, sponsored by Firehouse Bar and the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce.

Thursday, July 25

9am-5pm Immersive Writing Workshops with Parker Sterling at the Washburn Cultural Center.

3-5pm American Family Insurance Overland Agency Open House – Join them to celebrate. They will be grilling complimentary hotdogs, brats and burgers and will have refreshments and sweet treats. The Chequamegon Humane Society will be on site with a few adoptable animals to meet. This event is open to the community!

Friday, July 26

12-5pm Bee a Citizen Scientist – Learn about bumblebee species and identification, and help collect data in the Bumblebee Garden between Artists on the Byway & the post office, weather permitting. Enjoy cold water, benches, and lots of flowers blooming at their peak. Stop by any time between Noon & 5pm.

6-11pm Washburn Emergency Services Fire Hall Dance Fundraiser – Food, beer, raffle & live music by The Whitecaps at the Washburn Fire Hall. Raffle tickets are available at the Chamber office during business hours.

11pm Fire Hall After-Party – After everyone dances their hearts out at the Brownstone Days Fire Hall Dance, head to the Firehouse Bar for the after party with more music, dancing, and drink specials. 10% of the evening’s proceeds will go the Washburn Emergency Services!

Saturday, July 27

8am Charity Co-ed Softball Tournament – All proceeds benefit The Auxilia Initiative, a nonprofit that provides early mental health intervention to first responders in Ashland and Bayfield Counties. There will be games, concessions, hot food, and music! Registration is $200 per team and includes a t-shirt for each team member. Register here and find tournament rules here.

9am Firehouse 5k– Gather your friends, family, neighbors and join the Firehouse Bar 5k. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, you’re just looking for a fun way to stay active, this event is fun for all! After crossing the finish line, reward yourself with a cold drink. The first round is free for participants. Cost is $30/person. Register HERE.

9am-2pm Open House at The Club – Stop in and see the progress that has been made on this beautiful historic building. Reminisce over the good old days and learn about the plans moving forward.

9-3pm 14th Annual North Coast Car Show – With live music at the Washburn Inn/Harbor Table. Lions Club Food Truck on site, & “Fire & Ice” Root Beer Float Social and Fundraiser at 10am.

9am Washburn Lions Club, Bob Ungrodt Memorial Golf Scramble. 2-4 Person Teams – Best Ball – Shotgun Start. Cost is $50/person and includes– 9 Holes of golf with cart, Men/Women Hole Prizes, Plaques – $100 for 1st place team, door prizes & lunch. Call the Lake Superior View Golf Course at 715-373-1100 to register, or email washburnlions@gmail.com.

10-4pm Arts & crafts, food, information booths, fundraisers & more at Legion Park. Hosted by the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce. Contact Nicole at the chamber if you would like to be a vendor.

11am, 12pm & 1pm – FREE Historic Washburn Trolley Tours provided by Washburn Heritage Association – Departs from Time Out Restaurant.

11am-3pm Kiddiwink Kids Free Craft Event – Free kids art & craft projects hosted at Kiddiwink Kids. In-store sales & walk-in pottery painting deals. Cotton Candy & Lemonade Stands. Rain or shine.

11am-3pm Thompson’s West End Playground Fundraiser – Celebrate Washburn with AdventureUs and Full Keel Coffee for a cold press, affogato and sundae fundraiser for the new Thompson’s West End Playground. Check out our gift store all week for our Summer Anniversary Sale!

11am – 4pm Harbor House Sweets – Visit their tent for several food options including: Chicken Mac n Cheese waffle cones, Pulled Pork, or Beef Brisket Nachos. The featured Sweet Treat will be Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream on a Birthday Cake Cone with rainbow sprinkles.

1:30-2:30pm & 3-4pm Belly Dance Class with Adara Din – Learn the choreography for a fun, short belly dance. Perfect for beginners. 2 workshop time available. $15/person or $10 each if you bring a friend. Washburn Meditation Center.

8pm Live music at Patsy’s by the Whitecaps.

Sunday, July 28 -Main Events at the Omaha Property

11-3pm Lion’s Club Picnic – Food Truck.

12:30pm Tug of War-Teams of 4. Same day registration. All Ages Welcome.

1pm Water Barrel Fights -Teams of 4 to 6. Pre-registration preferred. $10 per team, $100 cash prize for first place. **If there are not enough teams the event will be cancelled. Contact the chamber to register.

1pm Washburn Waterfront Restoration Tour– Take a tour of all the great restoration work along Washburn’s waterfront. Tour led by Nile Merton who’s a local environmental consultant with Chequamegon Environmental LLC. Nile worked to implement the restoration projects we will visit. He will be accompanied by Washburn’s Assistant City Manager, Tony Janisch, who will give more project history and background. This event is free and open to the public. There is a cap of 20 participants, so please RSVP for each attendee.

1:30pm Washburn Sharptail Baseball Game – Washburn VS. Tri County at the Washburn Baseball Fields.
